Watercolor Journal from Antigua

Watercolor Journal from Antigua

We spent a delightful week at the Verandah Resort and Spa on the rocky east coast of Antigua last January. It’s a fairly remote outpost relative to the largest town on the island, St. John’s City. As far as we were concerned, this was a good thing! Since it’s an all-inclusive resort with good food, we decided to forgo renting a car and enjoyed really relaxing at the resort without a lot of extra moving around in motorized vehicles. We were especially glad we didn’t venture into the “big” city after hearing reports from a few fellow guests about the towering cruise ships that disgorged streams of tourists onto the streets to shop in the tiny town. All this beach time was perfect for sketching and painting, so I had a blast. Enjoy my take on the flora and fauna of this beautiful island.

The Verandah is very close to Devil's Bridge on the map.
