16 Sep Route 66 End of the Trail
It’s almost hard to believe when you’ve traveled the length of Route 66 and finally get to The Santa Monica Pier and see the “End of the Trail” sign. It’s a feeling of victory and also for me, a poignant end to an amazing journey. I made so many new friends on The Ride for the Relay and was sad to say “good-bye”, but I was also sad that I wouldn’t have Route 66 in my life anymore. (Or so I thought!) What I’ve since discovered is that you can never really get it out of your life, once you’ve been there. All I want to do is go back! And/or keep learning more about the history and magic that has made that sacred highway so special to so many. So although this sign marks the new official end of the road, she lives on in my heart and the hearts of all who have traveled her.
