18 Sep The Road to Oatman from Sitgreaves Pass on Route 66
The road downhill from the summit at Sitgreaves Pass to the little mining town of Oatman on the oldest section of Route 66 is indeed harrowing! You certainly do not want to take your eyes off the road here to look at the view (if you’re the driver of course!) Again my mind floats back to the people who built this road and the challenges they faced; to the early drivers on Route 66 and how challenging this must have been for them; and even now, for those of us in perfectly good vehicles. This is one heck of a scary section of roadway. Take it slow!
