05 Oct Abandoned on Route 66 in the Panhandle of Texas
As you drive west from Cadillac Ranch, west of Amarillo, Texas, you go through a few “settlements” marked by huge concrete silos and a number of abandoned properties. This, at times, does feel like the sad legacy of Route 66. It’s painful to take in the number of businesses that have failed. For me, these haunting images define this section of the route.
