30 Sep 66 Restaurant, Santa Rosa, New Mexico
We passed the 66 Restaurant (of course on Route 66) in the morning as we were driving out of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. I had to bring the car to a screeching halt to get a picture of it – just too fabulous. Love the chevron shapes with the giant letters inside and I wonder if these vintage cars were put there for dramatic effect or if they really belonged to customers having a classic diner breakfast. At that point, I wished we could pop in and have one. In a few years, I hope to be able to make this trip again and move at a much slower pace to explore these kinds of places and get to know the people.
