08 Aug Thanksgiving letter 1944
These two letters, to Mary and to Frank, my grandfather, are very poignant. I imagine my Dad purchased the stationery and perhaps colored the one to Mary himself. I’m also including the photo that was tucked inside the envelope, which shows Rollin, pensive and serious with dark circles under his eyes. Not sure if I’m reading too much into his gaze, but I know how much he’s missing home, his wife and child and looking at the prospects of the holidays alone amidst the battlefield of war.
