Indian Rock Shop, Holbrook, Arizona

The Indian Rock Shop in Holbrook, Arizona was a store I really wanted to visit. I was so disappointed that this great store with all the big dinosaurs outside was not open – on a Saturday? I took lots of pics of the friendly dinosaurs and once again (was here in January of 2012) peeked through the fence at the huge piles of petrified wood and rocks and wondered about the owner of the store and the story of the place. Like so many attractions on Route 66, is it a story of survival or a story of loss?

Went there in May 2023 and met Adam Moon, owner. Our time with him was one we will never forget, a true highlight of our trip. Feeling blessed to have met him.

Very cool!!! These folks deserve a medal for being such a contribution to our roadside culture. Thanks for sharing.

On my families trek back to Phoenix area, we met Mr. Moon. He is so spirited and filled with so much wisdom. It felt like fate meeting him and being able to learn and feel his energies. He was so kind to us and such a hard worker. He shared that he made the dinosaurs and has been running that business for 50+ years. We are all so touched by him. Give him your business and bring cash!!!!

Absolutely would have loved to give him some biz, but the few times I’ve been by, he’s been closed. Hope he sticks around for next year’s big celebration and sells lots of his cool artifacts! Thanks for your comments.
