15 Oct Gemini Giant, a muffler man with a heart
The Gemini Giant in Wilmington, Illinois is a retrofitted Muffler Man from the 1960’s. He was given the name by a local school girl during the “space race” years when they had a naming competition. He wears a helmet and holds a rocket ship as any proper space traveler would. Sadly, the Launching Pad Drive-in that he originally promoted has been out of business for a number of years and sits forlorn and vacant nearby. This is truly one of the first great finds along the route in Illinois and you’ll see many other travelers having fun posing with the giant for pictures to send home, proving they were really here!
